Min RAID controller var virkelig ikke meget for at servere de rå diske for FreeBSD, så jeg endte med at lave en RAID60 på alle 8 diske, og én partition på hele molevitten.

Derefter ville jeg installere ZFS på hele arrayet, men min eneste adgang til maskinen er gennem en KVMoIP konsol på en virtuel Windows på OS X, hvor jeg hverken kan få et '=', '|' eller '/' tegn igennem. Så er det altså svært at bruge en UNIX shell :-/. Jeg endte med at løbe tør for tid, råbe nogle grimme ting og installere en helt almindelig FreeBSD med UFS + journaling via sysinstall, som jeg kunne bruge uden de nævnte tegn.

Min read performance er ca. 700MB/s, write performance omkring de 80MB/s.

Jeg har siden lavet mig en mapfile til et dansk MacBook Pro keyboard (vedhæftet) for at undgå panik. Jeg har testet den i en FreeBSD-konsol i Virtualbox med held. Måske er jeg ikke den eneste, som er både Mac- og FreeBSD-bruger. Installér med "kbdcontrol -l danish.iso.macbook.txt"
