Your command gave no response.
But when I wrote startx, KDE started. Tom, I love you.

There is an execelent section in the freebsd handbook about the X Windows system and how to get it working with different gnome, kde etc.

Section 5.7.2 is about kde, but I think the command below solves your problem.

echo "exec startkde" > ~/.xinitrc
