There is an execelent section in the freebsd handbook about the X Windows
system and how to get it working with different gnome, kde etc.

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x11.html

Section 5.7.2 is about kde, but I think the command below solves your
problem.

echo "exec startkde" > ~/.xinitrc

Subject: Start KDE

Hi, everybody

I used to have FreeBSD4.7 with KDE
Now I have installed FreeBSD6.0 and wants to use KDE or any other user
interface.
But I can only use the "dos-screen" an Sysinstall
I think I have instaled everything including KDE, but when I run startx, I
only get the 3 terminals login, xterm, and xterm.
Please give me a hint.

Niels
